Kim Kardashian's Engagement Ring Bling

Posted by Unknown Senin, 04 November 2013 0 komentar

Third time will hopefully be a charm for reality TV star Kim Kardashian as she said yes to boyfriend and baby daddy, Kanye West's proposal - and a 15 carat flawless diamond stunner.

On October 21st (her 33rd birthday), West took Kardashian to a rented-out AT&T Park, home of the San Francisco Giants. Fireworks, a 50-piece orchestra and a jumbo screen flashing "PLEEEASE MARRY MEEE!!!" were all part of the over-the-top proposal. And we haven't even mentioned the ring yet, although I'm sure you can only imagine!

A proposal that extravagant can only be paired with a ring topping out at 15 carats, and designed by none other than Lorraine Schwartz. (She also designed the ring Kris Humphries gave to Kim in May 2011. Awkward!) According to Lorraine Schwartz herself, West was very involved in the process and wanted to pick out the perfect stone. He found perfection in a flawless 15-carat bauble. No word yet on the price. Rumor has it that West had three different rings created and only hours before the proposal did he make his final decision on this stunner.

This engagement comes just weeks after Kim K.'s old engagement ring from NBA player Kris Humphries sold on the auction block for $749,000. Ahhh sweet reality TV revenge!

Too bad Kanye's last name didn't start with an H. They could have saved some cash and use the same monogram from Kim's 2011 nuptials to Humphries.

Best of luck to the happy couple. We'll all be waiting for Sunday nights at 10pm for your new reality show.

P.S. In true Kanye-style, a prenup is currently being drawn up (We want prenup! We want prenup!).

The Ultimate Diamond Field Trip

Posted by Unknown Selasa, 15 Oktober 2013 0 komentar
Neiman Marcus' over-the-top 2013 Christmas Book is out and includes one 'Fantasy Gift' that's already on our letter to Santa.

Called the "Ultimate Diamond Experience", Forevermark diamonds is offering a 25-carat rough diamond and the chance to see its journey from the mine to your finger all while staying in swanky hotels and resorts and dining with industry execs. All for a cool $1.9 million. Here is the play-by-play according to Forevermark:

- A first class flight to London an overnight at a 5-star hotel.

- A trip to the De Beers headquarters in London to receive your diamond in the rough where you will name it (yes, name it) and meet the master craftsman who will teach you about its unique number invisibly inscribed on it after it is hand-cut and polished to perfection.

- This is followed by a private tour of The Crown Jewels at the Tower of London. Note: Meeting Queen Elizabeth is not part of the deal, but hey, you never know!

-After that you'll dine with De Beers CEO Phillippe Meillier, Forevermark CEO Stephen Lussier and designer Maria Canale at the private Queens House.

- From there you will head to South Africa, taking a trip through time to the 19th century diamond rush and explore diamond mines while staying in a boutique hotel in Johannesburg.

- Then you will take a vessel to the coast of Namibia, where your 25-carat diamond was discovered, and take a tour of the rough-diamond sorting houses and children's community projects supported by DeBeers.

- Before heading back to the real world, spend three days and two nights at a luxury lodge in Tswalu, South Africa.

- Then once back on U.S. soil, on day 11 of your trip,  you'll head to the Big Apple to meet with jewelry designer Maria Canale who will design the jewel that holds your perfectly polished 25-carat diamond.

Surely there's at least one lucky diamond diva out there who will find this in her stocking come Christmas time, right?

What do you think? Chance of a lifetime or cheesy beyond belief?

Pink Diamond to Set Auction Record

Posted by Unknown Jumat, 11 Oktober 2013 0 komentar

You know that $60 million you have lying around? Loosen your purse strings, jewelry hounds. We're going rock shopping.

A rare pink diamond weighing in at a whopping 59.60 carats could fetch a record $60 million or more according to Sotheby's. The auction house will put this baby on the block November 13th, and the jewelry world is buzzing with excitement.

The "Pink Star" (as the little darling likes to be called) is quite simply the most valuable diamond ever to be offered at auction. Yup. Ever.

"It is full of fire and light. If it sells it will be a record price for any gemstone so far at auction," David Bennett, chairman of Sotheby's jewelry division in Europe and the Middle East, told Reuters in Geneva earlier this month.

The current record is held by the "Graff Pink", a 24.78 carat fancy intense pink diamond bought in 2010 by Laurence Graff for 45.44 million Swiss francs ($45.75 million then).

Click here for my coverage of that piece of pink perfection.

In the meantime, thinking pink is all the rage this month as Breast Cancer Awareness takes center stage. For those of you who like to donate to a worthy cause and look swell doing it, take a gander at these Limited Edition LINKS designer bracelets that include a $25 donation with every purchase to Susan G. Komen for The Cure.

And be sure to check out LINKS on 'The Talk' with Sharon Osbourne on October 23rd where they will feature these very bracelets!

Miranda Kerr Lands Swarovski Gig

Posted by Unknown Selasa, 08 Oktober 2013 0 komentar
What do you do when you quite literally have it all? If your Aussie model Miranda Kerr, you sign up to be the new face of Swarovski this fall. Duh.

As if being a top-notch Victoria's Secret angel, having a husband named Orlando Bloom and an adorable son named Flynn isn't enough happiness in your life, surely a little Swarovski sparkle will do the trick. Can't we all be so lucky?

According to a press release, the creative director Ronnie Cooke Newhouse said, "Mix Miranda Kerr with home-grown English garden roses, Swarovski jewelery, Nick Knight photography, original Pharrell Williams music and you get beauty, warmth, coolness and desirability. Things we love." We couldn't agree more. The campaign was shot by British photographer Nick Knight.

Past faces of Swarovski include Candice Swanepoel, Lily Donaldson, Katie Fogarty and Berenice Marlohe.

The ads, scheduled to start in november, will run in 25 countries with commercials in Italy, France and Hong Kong (but you can find anything on the internet, gentlemen).

For your own sparkling Swarovski moment, check out our stash of jewelry crafted with the sparkling stones right here and save 40% with code 40SWAROV! Running through an English rose garden while listening to Pharrell, you're on your own for that though.

Oh, did we mention she also grabbed the number 2 spot on Forbes list of highest paid models?

Jewelry Trend Alert: Boys with Bling

Posted by Unknown Kamis, 03 Oktober 2013 0 komentar
It's true. According to the jewelry world gods, men's jewelry is the latest trend… and we can all thank Justin Beiber for that… sort of.

With the rise in male celebs rocking bling at red carpet events and beyond, the demand for men's fashion jewelry is growing faster than ever before, with some guys even wearing Man-gagement rings to match their better half. Aww.

In the past, designer watches have been just about the only accessory most men are willing to wear, and even the recent demand for that, some say, is just as popular as ladies' handbags. According to a press release, "Both are considered status symbols and, believe me, most fashion conscious women would never tote a non-name brand purse when there is a Louis Vuitton available. Men feel the same about the latest and greatest in designer watches." I can speak to the truth of this as my Burberry-watch-wearing-other (better) half has been asking for a Tag Heuer watch for years. Dream on.

But more recently, the trend in men's jewelry has gone beyond timepieces. Cufflinks, tie bars and money clips are making a comeback thanks to a rise in designers and stylists using french cuffs on suits from the runway to the red carpet. And if your guys refuses to rock a little sparkle here and there, be a good daughter-in-law and go into his closet and throw out all his old, stained dress shirts and replace them with french cuffs. He'll have no choice but to wear those cufflinks you bought him. You're welcome.

And this trend isn't just for the 'suit and tie' guy (cue Justin Timberlake). Even casual, everyday men's jewelry is coming to the forefront of fashion - just in time for the holidays. Celebs like Johnny Depp, Justin Beiber, Jay-Z are all contributing the the recent surge in men's jewelry trends, prompting guys to give accessorizing a second chance.

If the guy in your life thinks he is too much of a manly man for pedicures and bling, point him to our collection of men's jewelry. Links bracelets, industrial strength Black&Blue and rocker chic Rock + Redemption jewelry offer just the right amount of sparkle while still allowing him to hold onto his man card. His nasty feet, though, we can't help with.

Top Ten Emmy Jewelry Moments of 2013

Posted by Unknown Selasa, 24 September 2013 0 komentar

All of the top Emmy jewelry trends for 2013 are tastefully covered in an earlier post by my colleague Mandy Tracy. Now it's time to get down and dirty. Here are my Top Ten Emmy Jewelry Moments of the night for your drooling (and dishing) pleasure.

Drumroll....

10. Maria Menounos? Less Is More. Just sayin'.

Don't let the jewelry wear YOU, sister. It's a stunning $2.5 million Colombian emerald and diamond piece (from Lorraine Schwartz no less), but the prom queen hair puts you in the Kathy Ireland 'Less Is More' Red Carpet Correspondent Hall of Fame.

Sorry, sister.

9. Mani-Cam Crack

The E! Red Carpet mani-cam not only shined a spotlight on nail polish, but supersized the A-lister's ring finger bling! And a new addiction was born.

Here's an even better look at Zooey Deschanel's gob-stopper-sized tourmaline ring by Chanel. Team Mani-Cam! Who's with me?

8. Padma Goes for the Gold

Padma Lakshmi gave the jewelry gawkers our first surprise (and notable trend) of the night: classic, sculptural, yellow gold jewelry. I loved her elegant swirl earrings and Wonder Woman-inspired cuff, both from Robert Lee Morris. Gorg!

7. Sarah Hyland Goes Green

I'm a sucker for an emerald statement. And while Christina Hendricks and Mayim Bialik scored some great green, Sarah Hyland really caught my attention with this head-to-toe look from Lorraine Schwartz, including  60-carat(!) Colombian emerald drop earrings.

Kermit, eat your heart out.

6. The Jewelry Credit Catastrophe

Live Tweeting the Emmy Red Carpet with the #emmyjewelry crowd is like joining a chorus of snarky sophisticates. We "jewelerati" love our bling. We love our champagne-infused red carpet drinking games. But we HATE HATE HATE it when jewelry credits get ignored.

While Ryan Snorecrest is our favorite target, this year, How I Met Your Mother star Cobie Smulders took first prize for (gasp!) not only forgetting whose jewelry she was wearing (Irene Neuwirth!)....but owning up to it on live television in front of millions. No words.

PS - For those at home keeping score, our hashtag made the top trend list during the E! red carpet telecast. Join us next time!

5. Carrie Underwood

Ms. Underwood's go-to jewelry guru Jonathan Arndt didn't disappoint this year, scoring carats a kimbo for Country Barbie. And major props from the statement-necklace-starved jewelerati. That's $18 million worth of ice and over 180 carats all told for those of you playing at home.

4. Oh No You Didn't, Lena

It's not a jewelry moment. It's well...just a moment of sorrow I have to share. I love GIRLS. I love Lena Dunham. I love that she unabashedly wears ghastly jumpsuits, grandma underwear and an extra 25 pounds with nary an ounce of self-consciousness - both in real-life and on her show.

But I just can't abide this, sister. You can do better.

3. The Salamander Reveal

Canary Island has nothing on this Tweety Bird-inspired ensemble from Ana Farris. But just when I was about to unleash a Joan Rivers-inspired fashion rant, this yellow-bellied damsel in distress did a little red-carpet spin to reveal....

...this completely surprising and awesome 19th-century emerald and diamond Fred Leighton salamander brooch. I haven't been this shocked since Mariah Carey covered her cleavage. Nicely played.

2. My Claire Danes 'Cry Face'

She's a class act, that Claire. And as the belle of this particular Awards Show ball, I looked to her to knock it out of the park. But like other A-listers before her (Jennifer Aniston, Julia Roberts and Angelina Jolie, I'm talking to you), she just doesn't get that we jewelry hounds don't want elegant understatements.

We don't want studs, or dainty drops or yet a another (yawn!) diamond bracelet - no matter how lovely.

We want a jewelry statement like Gwenyth Paltrow's Louis Vuitton bird earrings or Michelle William's deco Fred Leighton stunner.

Turning it up a notch doesn't mean you have to go gaudy (Maria Menounous, are you taking notes?). It just means you show up to occasion. This is the Emmys. Not a family wedding.

1. Sofia, Sofia, Sofia

Sofia Vergara's Vera Wang/Lorraine Schwartz combination does it again. This time, she brought $7 million of bling to the red carpet, including 100-carat unheated ruby, sapphire and emerald earrings, a 21-carat Asscher-cut diamond ring, and a 40-carat Colombian emerald and rose-cut diamond ring.

Big. Deep. Breath.

Liz Taylor is somewhere up there smiling over her martini shaker . If you're a man, you're almost crying with delight at the sight of this superstar. If you're a woman, you're...well...crying for other reasons.

Who made your 'to-die' and your 'do-over' Emmy fashion lists? Weigh in with your thoughts, jewelry hounds!

65th Annual Emmy Awards Jewelry Trends: Green, Gold and One Diamond Necklace

Posted by Unknown 0 komentar
The 65th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards aired Sunday night, bringing us a red carpet swarming with new jewelry and fashion trends as well as some expected disappointments. Read on for the top five trends of the night.

Normally the morning after, we dish on the shoulder-sweeping earrings or Wonder Woman cuffs that have made frequent red carpet appearances over the years. As those trends either take a back seat or simply become the norm, we welcome some new and exciting trends to add to your jewelry box.

Cocktail Rings
Finally! Hollywood has put a ring on it! And in the form of big, chunky diamonds and gemstone cocktail rings. Primetime TV's finest rocked some cocktail rings that were large and in charge.

Zooey Deschanel matched an icy blue J. Mendel gown with an equally icy blue tourmaline ring by Chanel.

Modern Family's Sarah Hyland was head-to-toe in emerald, 2013's Color of the Year, pairing a green Caroline Herrera gown with Lorraine Schwartz green bling.

E! Red Carpet Hostess Guiliana Rancic rocked a $1 million diamond ring by Forevermark that would make even a Kardashian jealous!

Jessica Lange wore a black Escada gown accompanied with a Martin Katz cocktail ring. Kata Mara was sans any jewelry except for a large Irene Neuwirth ring that matched her J. Mendel gown. Other cocktail ring sitings included Sofia Vergara (obvi), Jane Krakowski, Christina Hendricks, Taylor Schilling

Green Goddesses

Whether it was the jewels or the gown, emerald was certainly the color of the night (Appropriate since the color gods at Pantone named it Color of the Year for 2013).

Standout looks that had us green with envy were Sarah Hyland (as mentioned before), Anna Chlumsky in Badgley Mischka, Lena Dunham in Prada, and Nancy O'dell.

Christina Hendricks looked ravishing, pairing a black down with emerald earrings and cocktail ring.

Sofia Vergara brought the bling once again with a Vera Wang gown paired with Multi color earrings and green ring by Lorraine Schwartz.

Anna Faris wore a cheerful yellow gown with a Fred Leighton green lizard brooch crawling up her back. Brooke Burke wore eye-catching jade earrings by Katerina Maxine.

Golden Girls
Yellow gold statement pieces continue to trend on the red carpet and are a perfect accessory for the fall.

Girls actress Allison Williams paired a blue Ralph Lauren gown with glowing Fred Leighton gold jewels.

Taylor Schilling rocked a white Thakoon paired with Jorge Adeler jewels, including a citrine and gold cocktail ring.

Nashville's Connie Britton paired a blue and gold Naeem Khan number with gold stacked bangles by Cathy Waterman.

Padma Lakshmi wore huge gold earrings and gold cuff by Robert Lee Morris that paired well with her Kaufman Franco gown.

Other golden jewelry moments include Cobie Smulders (who couldn't remember who designer her jewelry - YIKES), Jane Lynch and Merritt Wever.

Ladies in Red

While not a jewelry trend, we do pay respect to red carpet color trends that could inspired your own jewelry box collection.

Red frocks included Sofia Vergara, Morena Baccarin, Carla Gugino in Georges Chakra, Heidi Klum in Versace, Kaley Cuoco in Vera Wang, Kelly Osbourne in Jenny Packham, Linda Cardinelli in Donna Karan Atelier and more.

Babes in Blue

Every shade of blue made an appearance on the red carpet, capping off a month of sapphire birthstone bliss.

Tina Fey left black at home and rocked a bright blue Narciso Rodriguez gown. Deschanel sisters, Emily and Zooey both wore light pastel gowns by Houghton and J. Mendel, respectively. Jane Krakowski, Jessica Pare, Allison Williams, Maria Menounos, and Guiliana Rancic also wore standout blue gowns.

And leave it to a country girl to be the only notable celeb rocking a diamond necklace. Carrie Underwood paired a purple Romona Keveza gown with Johnathon Arndt jewels. Guess we will have to wait for the Country Music Awards for our next diamond necklace moment. Oh well.
